Stan Sajko Invitational

Stan Sajko was born in Sullivan, IN and graduated from Sullivan High School in 1939. He began his teaching career at New Albany High School as a biology teacher. Stan was the head Baseball Coach at New Albany High School for 25 years. During his tenure as head coach, his teams won 73% of all games with 22 consecutive winning seasons. Due to his success, he was inducted into the Indiana Baseball Hall of Fame. After coaching, he became the school's athletic director for the next 13 years. Among his other accomplishments he received a master's+ 30 degree in education from Indiana University Southeast in 1970. He started the New Albany Baseball Invitational Tournament which was renamed the Stan Sajko Baseball Invitational in his honor following his retirement in 1986. Established in 1962, the Stan Sajko Invitational is one of the longest-running tournaments in high school sports.
